REPORTS TO: President

POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible to work with the sales team to identify potential clients, develop custom model proposals with the research team to meet client needs, and develop technical marketing materials to support model sales. This will include regular interaction with current and potential customers and with internal sales, finance and research personnel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements strategic sales plans to meet and exceed corporate goals
  • Identify & develop business relationships with prospective researchers, scientists, foundations and corporations
  • Delivers pricing, proposals and necessary information to customers on a regular basis
  • Utilize scientific understanding to uncover new possible research partners and clients
  • Involved in business planning, forecasting and execution
  • Attends trade shows as needed to promote brand and services

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a key leader within the Exemplar Genetics team
  • Custom Model Development Duties
    • Identify new clients that may have an interest in our custom model development program
    • Secure meetings with new clients to discuss program and benefits to client
    • Develop work plans and budget for custom model development project proposals in collaboration with the research team
    • Work with Project Manager to develop tracking tools for each executed contract
    • Communicate any challenges in the development program to customers and provide solutions
    • Develop marketing materials to communicate custom model capabilities
  • Model Sales and Preclinical Research Duties
    • Assist Sales Manager – Research Models in developing technical bulletins and presentations highlighting data derived from model characterization and use
    • Review preclinical research services protocols for scientific soundness
    • Analyze data from research studies and assist in final report preparation
    • Conduct regular meetings with collaborators and research scientists to discuss progress on the projects
  • Internal Research Duties
    • Develop research plans, timelines and budgets for internal projects to support sales activities
    • Investigate disease progression in humans associated with each new model and develop plans to characterize that progression in the miniswine models
  • General Duties
    • Apply best practices in development, initiation, planning, execution, control and closing of projects
    • Effectively communicate in writing and orally all aspects of planning and execution in each project
    • Author scientific reports and prepare related presentations for middle and upper management, related to results and business development efforts
    • Improve components of current processes, and devise more efficient methods to support company goals
    • Attend trade shows as needed to promote brand and services
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or related discipline
  • Successful track record of client identification, sales execution and project management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Project software
  • Proficiency in genetic engineering as it relates to the development of models
